          POWER Engineers Software Development Project Manager in Boise Idaho United States

          Job Description: Seeking a Software Development Project Manager to work in our GIS and Asset Management Solutions team to lead project teams of experienced developers and consultants in POWER�s Boise, ID office. The Software Development Project Manager must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage a wide variety of projects that involve our internal staff along with resources from other POWER Engineer�s business units, business partners, and client teams. This position requires management of multiple concurrent projects and/or programs in various object-oriented development environments including .NET, WCF web services, Silverlight applications and Esri�s ArcGIS. We are expecting significant opportunities for growth, so the Software Development Project Manager will have input in the recruiting / hiring / subcontracting process.
          Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

          The Software Development Project Manager will have the following roles and responsibilities

          *Provide technical management and leadership for custom GIS and web application development projects

          *Function successfully in a busy, matrixed work environment

          *Have a broad background using different SDLC methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall

          *Work closely with department leadership to level resource assignments across multiple projects

          *Manage project from initiation to closure, using a standard PMI approach

          *Manage the scope, schedule and quality of deliverables

          *Maintain project plans that track resources, project status, and financials

          *Coordinate with the Area Lead, Department Manager, Business Unit Director and Human Resources on recruitment, personnel policies and employee development

          *Participate in the continuous improvement of the software development processes, standards and tools that are used by the Business Unit

          *Provide mentoring and work with the Area Lead, Department Manager and Business Unit Director to promote project management training and professional development of the team

          *Facilitate and support seamless interaction and cooperation among network of work groups/project teams

          *Team with Business Development account managers on issues related to new project proposals, project escalations, client retention and relationship management
          Experience, Skills and Knowledge

          The Software Development Project Manager must have the following experience, skills and knowledge:

          *Advanced knowledge of project management principles with at least 5 years of work experience managing 5 or more software developers on a variety of software development projects

          *Extensive knowledge of software development methods and tools with at least 5 years of professional experience in software development project management

          *Strong background in using Microsoft Project. Experience with MS Project Server is a plus

          *Deep understanding of software development projects involving SOA and object-oriented design

          *Experience with Esri�s ArcGIS platform would be beneficial

          *Experience with Microsoft .NET and Silverlight would be beneficial

          *Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience facilitating and managing meetings

          *Proven team leadership skills

          *PMP certification is preferred but not required
          Education:

          Bachelor�s Degree (or higher) in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science or a similar degree that focuses on software development and management skills.
